At just 6wks old Mark came out with a rash, his little knees became so red and inflamed that the skin started to split having had Mark to the GP on several occasions I once again took him back, this time I was told to take him home and an ambulance would be there shortly after to take us to The Children's Hospital, Birkenhead, on arriving Mark was admitted to a ward where he had his own room, the Dr's explained he was suffering from some form of Eczema, what was causing it they did not know, they did test after test after test, he was not allowed clothes just his nappy, Mark was so good through it all and hardly cried because of it, Mark never ever got the rash on his head and face nor on his bottom, month after month he spent in the Hospital and all I wanted was my baby back home where he belonged, it was a trying time as I had to travel to the hospital twice a day to feed my baby, and I had my other two boys to see to as well, after several months I was able to bring Mark home at weekends and this time with him was wonderful, I wouldn't have coped if it wasn't for my Mum, she was there for me and helped me through all the tough times, my Mum was my rock, Mark was in the Children's Hospital for almost 9 Months and the Dr's still did not have any idea what was causing Mark's eczema then Mark was transferred to Thingwall Convalescent Hospital where he was to spend 6wks bringing it to a total of just over 10 Months in hospitals finally in December 1978 I brought my baby home, I had to bathe Mark several times a day I had to change his clothes and put creams on him every hour all his clothes had to be cotton and had to be washed using NO soaps, powders or softeners my Mum bought a boiler so we could boil most of his clothes to make sure they where clean, I didn't mind my Baby Boy was home at last.
